Award-winning broadcast journalists Atom Araullo and Maki Pulido are now taking the helm as the new hosts of GMA News TV's flagship primetime newscast State Of The Nation which now airs weeknights on its earlier timeslot at 9:15 pm. Both Araullo and Pulido have shown their eloquence beyond news reporting through their own brand of stories that are recognized here and across the globe and are expected to show an accurate and deep understanding to the stories they present and help the audience make sense of the news - its importance, implications and context.
Considered as one of the most notable journalists of today's generation, Araullo previously anchored the pioneering mobile journalism newscast Stand For Truth where he led a new breed of journalists with the program's compelling and exclusive stories. Now hosted by renouned journalist and MalacaƱang Press Corps member Joseph Morong, STF airs every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 9:00 pm exclusively on the official Facebook and YouTube channels of GMA Public Affairs. A documentarist at heart, Atom also banners the bi-monthly documentary series The Atom Araullo Specials and is one of the hosts of GMA News' topnotch flagship documentary program i-Witness. His "Babies4Sale.PH" documentary for The Atom Araullo Specials won a Silver World Medal in the Best Investigative Report category of the 2020 New York Festivals - World Television and Film Awards, emerged as the national winner in the Best Documentary Programme (one-off) in the 2020 Asian Creative Academy Awards, and received a "highly commended" plaque from the Association of International Broadcasting (AIB) Awards in 2019. Another Atom Araullo Specials episode "Nang Tumigil Ang Mundo" recently won Best TV Special in the 2020 Catholic Mass Media Awards.
Known for her passion for news and in-depth reporting, Pulido has made her mark in the industry for her exclusive reports and coverage on significant national issues. She previously anchored the daily afternoon newscast Balita Pilipinas Ngayon alongside Mark Salazar where they reported on the day's news from different regions and provinces in the Philippines and is extending her craft in journalism through investigative reporting via the internationally-acclaimed public affairs program "Reporter's Notebook" where she hosts together with Jun Veneracion. Maki's stories for the said program gave the Philippines several recognitions from international award-giving bodies including the US International Film And Video Festival and New York Festivals - World Television and Film Awards.
