Following the success of the GMA Affordabox which now has sold more than one million units in just seven months, GMA Network has officially launched its own game-changing device that would enable Kapuso viewers to watch their favorite shows on the go on their smartphones. Their newest offering, GMA Now, is a mobile digital terrestrial television (DTT) receiver that can be plugged into an Android phone and allow user to watch live TV on the go for free and enjoy interactive features.
With GMA Now, Kapuso viewers can now enjoy watching their favorite GMA shows anytime, anywhere and have access to GMA, GMA News TV, Heart Of Asia, Hallypop, DepEd TV and other available free-to-air channels in their area. Aside from watching television on-the-go in digital quality, GMA Now users can also make use of its interactive features including streaming GMA shows on-demand, playing interactive games for a chance to win exciting prizes, and communicating with their favorite Kapuso celebrities and fellow GMA Now users via Groupee Chat.
GMA Now works with any Android smartphone that runs on at least Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS or higher, is powered by a 1 GHz dual core processor or more powerful, and sports USB On-The-Go (OTG) support. Users may need to download and install the GMA Now app on their smartphones from Google Play, register for free and attach the GMA Now dongle on the smartphone. GMA Now is also slated to become available to iPhone users in the coming months. Priced at Php649 with no monthly fees, GMA Now is available in portions of Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Bulacan, Pampanga, Pangasinan, Metro Cebu, Davao City, Baguio City and Cagayan De Oro City and is slated to expand its availability in more areas in the coming months.
The GMA Now was made initially available for purchase exclusively online via the official GMA Online Store on Lazada and Shopee last December 20, 2020 prior to its virtual unveiling to the press last February 4, 2021 and its eventual official launch three days later on GMA's Sunday noontime musical variety show All-Out Sundays (AOS) led by the device's brand ambassador and Asia's Multimedia Star Alden Richards.
