Several museums and historic sites within the walled city of Intramuros in Manila are now reopened as mandated by the Inter-Agency Task Force Against Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID) and visitors who want to visit and explore these sites are assured of a safer experience as premiere digital payments services provider Paymaya offers cashless payment options for fees and tickets to various tourist attractions within the area.

The Department Of Tourism (DOT) and the Intramuros Administration have officially tapped Paymaya to provide cashless payment options via Paymaya QR as they have re-opened select sites including Fort Santiago, Casa Manila Museum and Baluarte De Santiago to the public on a limited-capacity basis. When tourists and visitors go to these sites, they only have to scan the Paymaya QR displayed at the ticket booth using the Paymaya app to pay for the necessary fees and avoid person-to-person contact with the site personnel. Aside from empowering Intramuros with Paymaya QR for ticket sales in sites and services, the Intramuros Administration is also utilizing Paymaya's digital invoicing solution, allowing them to accept major debit/credit cards and Paymaya for online payments meant for rental payments of merchants, permits and other similar transactions.

Other than cashless payments, the Intramuros Administration also collaborated with Smart Communications in rolling out free WiFi access around various sites and public areas across Intramuros as well as interactive tourism markers powered by QR codes and Near Field Communication (NFC) technology as part of the nationwide Digital Tourism Program and #TravelSmart campaign. The DOT has been promoting various local tourist destinations for domestic tourists in order to reignite interest in local tourism sites and support the sector which has been hardly hit by the COVID-19 pandemic.

To support the government in this endeavor, Paymaya has also enabled government agencies such as the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) and the Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority (TIEZA), as well as local tour companies and travel agencies, to accept cashless payments from local tourists and visitors. At the same time, Paymaya is the premier financial technology company in the country capable of enabling the entire transportation chain across the entire country with the widest range of solutions which is highly regarded as a vital component in the revival of the local tourism industry.

Download and install the Paymaya app on your smartphone from Google Play and Apple App Store, register for an account, and enjoy cashless payments through its features and services.
