During its media event held virtually on May 5, 2021, Riot Games has announced plans for upcoming professional gaming tournaments and intriguing partnerships featuring League of Legends, League of Legends: Wild Rift, VALORANT and TeamFight Tactics slated to commence and take place within the remainder of 2021. Among them is the first global eSports tournament for Wild Rift in the fourth quarter of the year and global peripherals firm HyperX as the new official sponsor for gaming PC keyboards, mice and mouse pads in the VALORANT Champions Tour.
LoL Wild Rift's Global Head of eSports Leo Faria detailed that more planned regional tournaments are expected to be announced following the success of its Southeast Asia (SEA) Icon Series. Details on which regions across the globe to be targeted for the said tournaments as well as when these will occur are yet to be disclosed in the foreseeable future. On the other hand, HyperX Global Gaming Partnerships Head Jessany Van't Hoff feels thrilled for the brand to partner with the VALORANT Champions Tour. “In almost two years, VALORANT has amassed a huge community and has now evolved into a global esports tournament. For over a decade, HyperX has sponsored pro esports teams and tournaments."
The VALORANT Champions Tour (VCT) kicked off its third Masters event last May 24th in Berlin, Germany where the competition has expanded to sixteen teams. Several activations that have taken place throughout the LoL Mid-Season Invitational (MSI) were also revealed including the MSI Team Anthems, which sees each MSI qualifying team select one song to be put in the official LoL Spotify playlist with commentary by pros and regional personalities via the Spotify Clips feature, and a LoL eSports news podcast that will launch exclusively on Spotify. Meanwhile, a global TeamFight Tactics global championship is scheduled to be held in China sometime in October so stay trubed for it and more incoming eSports news and announcements from Riot Games throughout the remainder of 2021.
