gamescom continues its record run in 2026. As the gamescom week gets ready to kick off, the world’s biggest games event already boasts more than 1,600 exhibitors with 70 percent from abroad, 47 country pavilions representing 40 countries and 233,000 square meters of gross exhibition space, fully booked for the first time this year. New country pavilions from Bulgaria, Cyprus, Hungary, Morocco and Nigeria further strengthen the event’s international presence. Visitor demand is also strong – wildcards and tickets for gamescom Saturday are already sold out. Once again, gamescom highlights its importance as the central platform for the global games industry and community.

Felix Falk, Managing Director of game – The German Games Industry Association, commented, “With gamescom 2026 just days away, the outlook couldn’t be better. Even more exhibitors from 67 countries, a new record number of country pavilions, a sold-out show floor and the biggest indie area to date – this year’s games highlight promises to be an unforgettable week that captures the incredible diversity of games culture. What’s more, the event will also feature political firsts, including a visit from Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier. We in the games industry, together with the community, are looking forward to a truly exceptional games festival – on-site in Germany and via livestream to fans around the world.” Koelnmesse GmbH President and Chief Executive Officer Gerald Böse stated, “In 2026, gamescom is proving its economic significance once again – not just for Germany as a games location, but also for Europe and the entire global industry. The strong demand reflects the vital role that gamescom plays for companies, institutions and the worldwide community. We’re looking forward to a week packed with networking, business talks, premieres, a varied program and the community energy that makes gamescom unique all over the world.”

gamescom Indie Area Gets Bigger
The diversity of gamescom 2026 can be seen across many areas of the event including the gamescom indie area. With hundreds of games and more than 420 companies, the indie area is up 16 percent from last year, reaching a new all-time high. In 2026, the indie area will once again become a central hub for creative ideas, new perspectives and games created outside large-scale production environments. It shows just how much small teams shape international games culture and how vital gamescom is as a platform for that diversity. That is why one of the trends at this year’s gamescom is “small teams, big successes”.
