More
than 200 young and budding Filipino athletes have began to live their own
volleyball dream through the Heroes Camp Volleyball Clinic, an advocacy of
ABS-CBN S+A as part of its commitment to promote sports development in the
Philippines.
Held
in barangay covered courts across six cities in Metro Manila from August to
October 2017, these future volleyball players aged seven to 16 were able to
learn not just the fundamentals of the sport but also the importance of hardwork,
teamwork and discipline. Not only that, the Heroes Camp has provided motivational
talks from several players from the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) on what it
takes for anyone to become a winner and champion in sports and in life as well.
The
successful Heroes Camp followed last year's series of basketball clinics in
different communities around the Metro giving underprivileged children the
chance to enjoy quality sports training for free as S+A, the premiere sports
channel on Philippine free TV, sees the potential of sports as a vehicle that
can create a positive impact in the lives of young Filipinos. Those who have
graduated from the six volleyball clinic legs may have the potential to become
pros in the near future, but their passion and eagerness to play can become a
driving force to their own direction.
The
Heroes Camp Volleyball Clinic would not be made possible without the support
and cooperation of the PVL, ABS-CBN Lingkod Kapamilya Foundation, Heroes
Volleyball Program and Creamline Ice Cream. Its success as well as that of its
Barangay Basketball Clinic will drive S+A to continue its commitment to reach
and inspire more Filipino children to get into sports.
