world is starting to delve into a differently new universe as the National
Basketball Association (NBA) officially kicked off the inaugural season of its
newest endeavor, the NBA 2K League.
Basketball fans and enthusiasts from all around the world can have the
opportunity to see a new generation of players that are slated to mold
themselves in the professional gaming scene in what is considered to be the
NBA's 4th league from its own standpoint. But I bet many of you are wondering

It is without question that the NBA 2K League is based on the best-selling
basketball video game franchise of the same name which has sold more than 60
million copies worldwide since its launch in 1999, but the growing popularity
of eSports has pushed the NBA to set up and embrace the new league which is a
first for any major US-based professional sports league and you should thank
Commissioner Adam Silver for that.
2. Stands Like The NBA
As I have mentioned in the introduction above, the NBA 2K League is the
newest addition to the association's family and the NBA is already treating the
new league like its father. To prove my point, the inaugural season will run
for 17 weeks until August with a 15-week regular season followed by two playoffs
and three independent tournaments with a prize pool of US$1 million at stake.
With this much detail, all I can say that this format would definitely mirror
that of the NBA like it or not.
3. Drafted From 72,000
Seventeen of NBA's 30 existing franchises are participating in the inaugural
season of the NBA 2K League, and these teams have already fielded their own
tram of six players through the league's own draft but these players are not
what you expect because they were chosen from about 72,000 gamers who have made
the cut in the open casting and eventually have their skills evaluated and analyzed.
To put it simple, it is all about virtual reflexes and the will to become a
professional gamer whatever it takes.
4. To Delight New And Old
Audiences
Every 2K League game will be broadcasted exclusively on the Twitch
gaming platform with the virtual championship taking place in New York City.
These details would certainly be delightfully satisfying as the NBA 2K League
