It has been two years since Ubisoft began operations in the Philippines
and it would seem that the renouned French video game publisher and developer
is reaping the fruits of its own labor with the recent opening of its new
state-of-the-art studio within the vicinity of the De La Salle University
(DLSU) Science and Technology Building in Sta. Rosa City, Laguna. What makes
the new studio more intriguing is that it is the first AAA game development
studio in the Philippines which is one of a kind anywhere within our local
shores and that is something that we should be proud of.
The new Ubisoft Philippines studio will be the new home of its more
than 100 employees who have been involved in the development of various games
considering that it will include various amenities that should be literally
appealing to those working in the video game industry such as pantries, a ping
pong table, game room and so much more. What can you expect from one of the
biggest names in video gaming today gaining ground in the Philippines? Just
take a look at what it is on online news sites and be awed and impressed by how you look at it on
your own terms.

For over two years, Ubisoft Philippines has co-developed several AAA
video game titles which include Assassin's Creed: Origins, For Honor and The
Crew 2 among others. It has also worked with a non-government organization in
helping underprivileged children. With the opening of its new office and studio,
Ubisoft is looking to provide more opportunities for Filipinos who want to
enter the world of video games. In fact, it has forged a collaboration deal
with De La Salle University which lead to the ladder's inclusion of Bachelor of
Science in Interactive Entertainment where its graduating students are given
the chance to work in a AAA game development studio as interns prior to their upcoming
graduation.
The opening of a new studio and office is a legitimate statement to
Ubisoft's strong stand as a catalyst of bringing the video game development
industry to the Philippines and providing opportunities for Filipinos who want
to be part of the gaming world. Not only that, the building would eventually
serve as a major contribution in the continuing development of the most modern city
in the province of Laguna and even the whole CALABARZON region. Gaming
communities in the Philippines should hope that this would also be a new beginning
for the country to make its own mark in the gaming industry no matter how big
or small it is.
