Mobile
Legends Bang Bang Southeast Asia Cup, the elite mobile gaming tournament in the
region, is set to take place on June 19-23, 2019 at the SMART Araneta Coliseum
and is poised to be the biggest and most exciting MLBB event to be held in the
Philippines. The affair also happens to be game developer Moonton's way of
paying tribute to the Filipinos' undying love and passion for one of the
country's most popular eSports titles considering that last year's top two were
Filipino teams.
This
year's MSC will see a total of 12 invited teams from nine Southeast Asian
countries vying for the prestigious MSC Champion title. Countries with their
own respective Mobile Legends Bang Bang Professional Leagues (MPL) will send
two teams each except for Malaysia and Singapore which will have one team to
represent. Thailand, Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia are hosting a series of country
qualifiers with the winning teams to represent their respective nations in the
MSC. As of this writing, the confirmed teams invited to the 2019 MSC are
Indonesia's Onic and Louvre which were the top two in MPL-ID Season 3,
Malaysia's GeekFam (1st placer in MPL-MY/SG Season 3), Singapore's Evos (2nd
placer in MPL-MY/SG Season 3) and this year's MPL-PH Season 3 champions
ArkAngel.
The
Mobile Legends Bang Bang Southeast Asia Cup 2019 will kick off with a group
stage draw on June 4, 2019 where all participating teams are drawn into four
groups of three. The draw can be streamed live on MLBB's official Facebook
page. On June 19 and 20, the group stage will take place to determine which
teams get a spot in the upper bracket of the cup's upcoming playoffs while the remaining
teams are slated to face off in a play-in round with the last spots in the lower
playoff bracket at stake. Both the play-in round and the playoffs will happen
inside the Big Dome on June 21-23, 2019.
Aside
from being the main venue of the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) games,
the SMART Araneta Coliseum has provided a stage for some of the historic events
through the years since it opened its doors in the 60s such as the "Thrilla
In Manila" in 1975 where boxing legend Muhammad Ali fought Joe Frazier.
Add the Mobile Legends Bang Bang Southeast Asia Cup 2019 to the list of these
historic events taking place inside the Big Dome. By the way, the entire
tournament proper including the group stage will be streamed live via Mobile
Legends Bang Bang's official Facebook page (www.facebook.com/MobileLegendsOnlinePH).
