Elaine Duran of Butuan City was hailed as the grand winner of the third
season of Tawag Ng Tanghalan on ABS-CBN's top-rating daily noontime variety
show It's Showtime, capping off a long and illustrious journey in the
competition which began where she became the first TNT record holder after being
a defending champion for ten consecutive times.
An early fan favorite, Duran performed a medley of Basil Valdez songs -
Saan Ka Man Naroroon, Sana Ay Ikaw Na Nga, Ngayon At Kailanman - in the final round
of the grand finals dubbed Ang Huling Tapatan where she belted out a perfect
whistle note to end her performance. She would eventually garner the highest
combined average score of 41.18% from the judges' scores and the public votes via
text and online. Prior to the said round, Elaine thrilled the judges and the
audience inside the Caloocan Sports Complex with her ethnic pop rock rendition
of the hit Shanti Dope single Nadarang where she showcased her own rapping
skills.
As the grand winner, Duran won a huge bevy of prizes including a family
vacation package, custom in-ear headsets, business package, talent management
contract from ABS-CBN, recording contract from TNT Records, house and lot, Php2
million cash and a trophy designed by a renouned Filipino artist. Meanwhile,
John Mark Saga of Cavite and Davao's John Michael Dela Cerna take home
Php500,000 and Php200,000 as second and third placers, respectively. Kim Nemenzo,
Shaina Mae Allaga and Jonas OƱate were each awarded Php100,000 cash.
The grand finals of Tawag Ng Tanghalan's third season quickly became a
top trending topic on social media both in the Philippines and around the
world, more particularly on Twitter. Some of the topics regarding the finale
were also listed among the top trending topics including Elaine Duran, John
Mark Saga, December Avenue, John Michael Dela Cerna, Nadarang, Kim Nemenzo and Shaina
Mae Allaga among others. The grand finals also won the hearts of viewers
nationwide and scored a high national TV rating of 25.8% based on data from
Kantar Media which is higher than the rating of its rival shows Eat Bulaga
(10.4%) and Hanggang Sa Dulo Ng Buhay Ko (9.5%) making it the most watched
daytime show in the Philippines for September 28, 2019.
After a year of intense vocal showdowns and game-changing moments, It's
Showtime is set to stage and commemorate its biggest anniversary celebration
yet starting this October as the show officially marks its tenth year
anniversary. Watch out for more surprises and expect more good vibes and
world-class entertainment on the Philippines' new noontime habit It's Showtime
